Artist statement
As an artist I find the process of printmaking to be fascinating. Whether I’m using a press to drive the ink in to the paper, or a screen and squeegee to apply ink to the surface, I find printmaking very satisfying. I play with colors, layering and texture to find how they interact with each other and the viewer. My work encompasses both abstract and natural elements. I experiment with infusing my prints with organic dyes and botanical imprints.
Bio
Shane Dowling is an artist from Santa Cruz, California and has been a printmaker since 2021. He is attending Cabrillo College, focusing on serigraph and monotypes. Shane has had work displayed in multiple group shows.
